Arista, The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a national organization that honors students in middle school who embody the 5 pillars of excellence on which the NJHS was founded. Acceptance into Arista is one of the highest honors a student can achieve and the application process is taken very seriously. Students who are accepted into Arista display excellence, not only in academics, but also in leadership, citizenship, character and service. Students are eligible to apply for Arista in March of their 7th and 8th grade years with a ceremony following in May. Once accepted, they must maintain the same level of excellence for which they were accepted in order to remain in good standing.

Arista eligibility is determined by the following:

  • An overall average of 90 or above with no less than an 85 average in all classes
  • A minimum of 10 community and/or school service hours
  • Participation in at least 1 leadership activity
  • Satisfactory attendance for the year
  • No more than 10 days late for the year
  • Satisfactory conduct with no detention or suspensions
