Students receiving fully-remote instruction are not expected to come to school to take the state exams, including the NYSESLAT. Families of students in fully-remote instruction may however, choose to have their children come to school to participate in the state exams.
All in person/blended students will be taking the NYS ELA Exam during April 19-29 and the NYS Math Exam during May 3-14. The tests will be administered each one day following a specific school-based schedule. You will be notified as to when your child is scheduled to take each exam.
Remote-only students have the choice if they want to come in to I.S. 281 to take the two exams. Their remote math teacher will be administering a survey. The survey will ask if they intend on coming in to take the NYS ELA and Math Exams.
If you are interested in having your child come to school to participate in the state assessments, you will be assigned a specific window of time to bring your child in for the exam and they must be picked up directly after. All health protocols must be followed (Health Screener and Mask).
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s grade assistant principal.
