• During a DYCD site visit from the city, 7th grade S.G.O. Vice President spoke to their program manager and found out where our funding comes from for NIA after school. She wrote a letter to DYCD, saying how great I.S. 281 is and NIA, imploring that they should give us more funding. This letter made its way to the Commissioner, and he invited her and other students to not only come to DYCD, but to City Hall as well. She will be sworn in as the DYCD commissioner of the day, which is the highest possible honor a student can receive from the city. Congratulations to this exceptional student, we are all proud of her and the example she sets for all! 
• In partnership with Main Stages and NIA, May 14th at 6pm, our Cavallaro students will be putting on their performance of Moana Jr.! We haven’t had a production of this size in a long time. Please take the time to attend, if possible, as it looks to be a magical performance
• Please keep in mind that on Tuesday, May 13th, our 8th grade students will be taking the NYS Science CBT exam. Please make certain they get to school on time.
