Here is the news for the week:
-
Let’s take a moment to recognize our Boys Varsity Volleyball team. This season, they made us incredibly proud by earning the title of Brooklyn Champions – a HUGE accomplishment that reflects their dedication, talent and teamwork. Last week, they played with heart and determination in the city semifinals. While the outcome was not what we hoped for, we could not be prouder of how far they’ve come and the way they represented our school. Shout out to the team and their supportive coaches, Ms. Kasdan and Mr. Marku.
-
Congratulations to our Soapbox Derby Team, who competed on Saturday in the citywide competition and won 2nd place!
-
Last week's senior prom was a night to remember, and the 8th grade students all looked fantastic. They brought high fashion, energy, smiles, and their best dance moves! Special thanks to our PTA, who put together delicious parting gift bags of cotton candy and candy apples. Big shout out to Ms. Mohassib, Ms. Boyd, as well as the staff of chaperones, and volunteers, who helped make the night so special.

Despite the rain, today's Graduation Ceremony at the Amphitheatre was a beautiful event for our students and their families. Join me in congratulating our seniors, as they embark on their next journey, taking with them all of the valuable lessons and knowledge obtained from the staff of Cavallaro. This group of 8th graders made such a tremendously positive impact on our school community and will forever remain an integral part of our IS 281 family. Special thanks to Ms. Mohassib, Ms. Boyd and Ms. Soto, who nurtured and guided our graduates over the course of the last 3 years, as well as organized a very smooth ceremony. We thank our dedicated staff, whose work before, during and after the graduation ceremony led to its ultimate success. Congratulations and good luck to our 8th graders. We will miss you!

8th grade families, please be reminded that School devices are now past due. In order for students to fulfill graduation requirements and participate in the remaining end-of-year activities and receive their diplomas on the last day, devices must be returned. This includes any charging cables or accessories that were distributed with the device. Please ensure your child brings their device to school for collection. If their device has already been returned, no further action is needed.
