We welcome a new NYC schools Chancellor, Kamar H. Samuels. Attached is a welcome letter from Chancellor Samuels. I am pleased to report, that many of the initiatives that were in place under Chancellor Aviles-Ramos will remain, most importantly, NYC Reads.

Today, our students completed their Mid-Year i-Ready diagnostics in ELA. We have already received some preliminary results, and I am thrilled to share that many of our students have made significant progress in their literacy skills. Their specific reports will be sent home once generated. Thursday, January 8th, they will complete their i-Ready Math diagnostic.

This Friday, National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, is a School Spirit Day. We encourage all of our staff and students to dress in blue, in honor of those serving our communities in law enforcement. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank our NYPD School Safety Agents, Level III McFarlane and Agent Ackwood, for ensuring the safety and security of those in our school community. In addition, I would like to thank any of our Cavallaro family members, who put themselves in harm's way by serving in the NYPD.
