Congratulations to Rosie N., Joselyn M., Alex V., and Saphira L. for being the winners of our SGO Candygram design competition (see attached). Candygrams are on sale in the school store for $1.00 each. Shout out to our Girls Basketball team for their Championship win in this year’s D21 tournament! They are a force to be reckoned with. I also want to recognize our Cav Spirit Squad, who took part in their first MSCL Showcase.

The promotion-in-doubt (PID) process requires schools to notify families in writing if their student is at risk of grade retention for the upcoming school year, as outlined in Chancellor’s Regulation A-501. Please review the following instructions regarding the PID process:PID Process: Teachers identify student as PID, indicating that the student is at risk of not meeting promotion benchmarks in the appropriate subject area. This information will be entered into ATS.Generating PID Letters and Notifying Families: Official PID letters will be generated in ATS on February 6th. We will send the PID letters to families via mail on February 11th.PID Letters Available in NYSCA and Student Profile: PID decisions and letters will be accessible through the NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) and Student Profile starting February 17.

February 9th to the 13th, we will be observing Respect for All Week 2026. The goal of Respect for All week is to focus our students on the benefits of being comfortable in one’s own identity and self-expression, fostering stronger connections with others, which leads to greater respect within our community. This serves as a method to promote inclusiveness and acceptance, preventing bullying, and generating compassion within our school community and beyond. Please see the attached schedule and additional attachments to prepare yourself and your students for the week’s events

The Cavallaro Winter Dance Performance, "Inside Out: Cavallaro Edition," will take place on Thursday, February 12th.

February is Black History Month. Our students will be completing special projects in Social Studies to observe and honor the achievements and contributions of Black Americans throughout history. It is a time to reflect upon and recognize the continued struggles we face as a society to ensure racial justice and equality are upheld. The month will culminate in a special celebratory assembly for all 3 grades.
