Jessica represented Brooklyn as she competed in the NYC Spelling Bee on Tuesday, making it to the second round, and our Girls Volleyball Team won the D21 Championship, bringing home another trophy.Our Virtual Enterprise students competed in the NYC Virtual Enterprise Trade Show on Friday at LIU. I am so excited to announce that Team Lumesleep received 2 Gold Medals and Team Sanus received 2 Bronze medals, both in Booth Design and Sales Pitch! On March 23rd, they will attend the biggest trade show of the year at the Javits Center, where attendees fly in from all over the world. We will see where our teams placed in the National Finals.Our Debate and Robotics Teams both be competed in the NYC Championships this weekend! Debate finished with a Team 3rd place bronze medal and Individual 8th place win.Our Girls Basketball Team won their MSBL Semi-final game, moving on to the championships this past Saturday. They came up short with a 49-51 loss, but we are so proud of their accomplishments. Our Boys Basketball Team competed in the D21 Classic Tournament as well.We are so very proud of the accomplishments of our students, and I thank all our coaches and advisors…our students shine because of your hard work, effort, support and dedication.

A special thank you to Ms. Rogers and the Social Studies department, who led our students through lessons, activities and contests for Civics Week. They focused on topics pertaining to student agency, city council and civic participation strategies.

We are continuing our Friday attendance incentive program in an effort to encourage more students to be present in school each day. Another week of raffling off special gifts for students in all three grades who have perfect attendance each week. A special thank you of course to our Attendance Team and Success Mentors, as well as Ms. Lorena, who takes care of the gift-giving.

A huge thank you to Ms. Chris and Ms. Emily, who worked with Eye on Education to provide free eye exams for our kids. Friday, our students received a beautiful new set of glasses. They were so excited and now they will be seeing things much more clearly.

Our staff and students had a great time during Friday’s assemblies, with the representatives from Brainwash Game show. They competed in trivia and contests, cheering one another on. This really is a great way to encourage positive school spirit and have some down time before we move into the state testing season.
