I’m super excited to recognize the efforts of Mr. Solino and Ms. Richman’s students, who entered this year’s NYS Department of Environmental Conservation 2027 Calendar Poster Contest. For a 2nd year in a row, our students were selected as winners…this time THREE of our Cavallaro students will have their art depicted and represented in the 2027 NYWEA Calendar. Only 14 student artists were recognized as winners of more than 700 submissions from across NYS. Congratulations to Mr. Solino’s student, Saphira, and Ms. Richman’s students Sharon and Jerika. Their artwork will be featured on the DEC website and upcoming 2027 NYWEA Calendar.

We held a very successful NJHS Arista induction ceremony last week. 38 students were newly inducted, and 22 students were honored as 2nd year inductees, exhibiting the qualities of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship and Character. A special thank you to Ms. Emily for the beautiful certificates and Ms. Zambri, who did an absolutely exceptional job with the decorations, to our PTA for providing refreshments for the ceremony, as well as all those who assisted in preparation for the evening’s ceremony. Special recognition and appreciation to Ms. Gerber, our Arista Advisor, for the invaluable work she does managing our NJHS program throughout the year, ensuring that our students’ achievements are celebrated, and families are honored with such a prestigious event.

281 students proudly competed in NIA’s first ever Legends Cup, where five sites participated and Cavallaro NIA students made their mark by taking home the championship trophy! 🏆 The evening began with a powerful panel discussion that gave our young gamers a chance to hear directly from professionals, offering valuable insight into opportunities behind the screen and inspiring the next generation before the competition began. Throughout the event, students connected with peers, built new relationships & discovered that their community extends farther than they imagined. The night concluded with food, celebration & recognition of everyone’s hard work and sportsmanship. Special congratulations to Valentine, who was crowned the overall tournament champion, earning 1st place among all five schools! We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Mr. Vinny for his dedication in teaching, coaching, & preparing our participants to bring the trophy home, and Ms. Stephanie for offering such fun activities for our Cav students.
