Here is the news for the week:
-
Last week, we had a great week of Fall fun! Monday kicked it off with Red Ribbon week, as Mr. V met with classes and organized activities throughout the week to make an impact on our kids about the importance of saying ”No” to drugs…addiction is a real threat and he definitely got that message across. Thursday, our kids had a blast at the Fall Festival, our first big school event for the year. A special thank you to all those who volunteered to chaperone. The kids, as always, had a great time showing off their costumes and competing in the contest. Special thanks to Ms. Chris and our PTA for organizing and funding the event, as well as Ms. Zambri for the beautiful back drop and balloons. I also enjoyed the time with our sweet students on Friday during our yearly painting pumpkin party. They were a very creative group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I want to thank our PTA for donating all the pumpkins, as well as to my ghostly helpers Ms. Martin and Ms. Emily.

A special shout out to Ms. Mohassib and our ENL department, as they organized a successful MLL Parent Meet & Greet in the library on Thursday. Parents gained valuable insights into classroom learning, registered for Practice and after-school programs, and learned effective ways to support their child's education at home, all while bringing families and students together for refreshments.

As per the DOE calendar, Election Day, November 3, is designated as a fully-remote instructional day for the 2026–27 school year. All school staff and students are expected to participate in remote instruction on this day. Our instructional day will follow our regular bell schedule (see attached) from 7:50 - 2:10, and students will follow their Tuesday schedules. Students will be required to log in to Google classroom for each of their classes from pds. 1-8, excluding their designated lunch periods. Teachers will have a link posted for students to log in, record their attendance, and participate in live synchronous instruction, with appropriate lessons and assignments tied in. Families, please ensure that your child has accessed their Google classrooms from home prior to November 3rd. If you have any issues, please contact Ms. DiMatteo in the main office for assistance.

November is here, and it is time for the Cavallaro Spelling Bee! Classroom Spelling Bee contests will be completed by November 6, 2026. NOTE: The Spelling Bee is optional. Students do not have to participate. Class sets of Study Word Lists were placed in ELA teacher mailboxes for the students to practice words before the Classroom Spelling Bee. The winners of the Classroom Spelling Bee contests will participate in the School-wide Spelling Bee on November 20th.
